KK Goes to Pre-School

My little sister Kaelyn or KK started pre-school last week at AIS here on campus. That stands for Achievers International School I think.  She goes with her friend Xielo Zaragosa.  KK said that pre-school was really fun.  She goes to school Tuesday to Friday.  All of the teachers are girls and Monday there is no school because the teachers I think are all in PIM which meets on Mondays.  KK was nervous and excited at first, but now she can’t wait to go back!

At AIS the kids have to wear uniforms.  They have to wear uniforms.  They have to wear white collar shirts, navy blue skirts (or shorts for the boys) and black shoes.  KK said that at school they color, eat their snacks, and then wait for the parents to pick them up.  KK can’t share food with anyone because she has a peanut allergy, which means that she’ll get sick if she eats anything with peanut.

I can’t believe my little four year old sister is going to pre-school.  KK gets really happy when people ask her about school.  KK was really happy when our grandma and her cousins Maddie and Leia called and asked her about pre school.  KK is really excited to go back to school tomorrow.  See some of the pictures of her going to school and in her uniform!

Last week my family and I went on vacation on an island.  To get there we had to drive and then take a boat.  The boat was terrible.  I got sea sick.  When we went snorkeling the next day I felt a lot better.  My dad and I went out and saw a lot of fish.  There were striped ones, yellow ones, blue ones, and even rainbow ones!  It was really cool.

I saw some black spiky things and they were really scary looking.  One looked at me with red eyes!  I was really scared. I kept screaming underwater.  I’m pretty sure they were poisonous.  The coral was really pretty and there were  many different colors.

Then we got into small boats and we went to deeper water.  We fed the small fish bread and they ate it out of my hand!  They also bit you a little bit, but it didn’t hurt.  Then we swam around and save a lot of cool stuff.  On the way back to the shallow water we held onto a rope attached to the boat and the boat dragged us back.  We could snorkel and see lots of fish while the boat pulled us around.

It was really fun and I liked it a lot!  But it was exhausting!  I hope I can go back againsomeday.  Here are some pictures we took.  I really like snorkeling!

VBS in Manila

On April 6, 7, and 8, a lot of the IGSL playground team did a VBS for kids near the school.  It was really fun.  We put on a play, gave snacks, led worship with fun songs, and did crafts with the kids.  In the plays, I played a blind man, a disciple, and a woman going to Jesus’ tomb.  It was a little hard at points because most of the kids did not speak great English, but they were able to understand the plays anyway.

The crafts we made were really cool.  We made crosses, stick people, and a two-faced blind man. It was really fun. The worship songs we sang were “My God is so big, so strong and so mighty,” “Jesus loves me,” and our friend Deborah Fellows sang a song in Tagalog.  The kids got really excited when they got to go to the front and sing.

On the last day we had a graduation for the kids.  It was a big deal as many girls came in dresses and looking nice.  We put on the play about when Jesus was crucified. We played with the kids too. After the play, we gave them snacks. Some of them gave us homemade jewelry to thank us for doing the VBS. Then we gave the kids goodie bags which had markers and a little cross in it.

I had a lot of fun. I think it meant a lot to the kids that we did a VBS. My favorite parts were the worship and the plays. I had a lot of fun doing it with my friends.  I hope you like the pictures from our VBS that we did.

The New Playground!

One month ago 26 Americans came to the Philippines to build a new playground for IGSL! It was fun because some families came with kids that we know. And it was fun to see my principals from LCS!

The first day we dug a lot of holes. We also lifted up concrete.  All of the kids took turns banging a hammer at a cement block.

IMG_7077On the second day we had all of the pieces  for the new playground. They arrived in the middle of the night on our second night of the week! Me and my friend Lana Bird were lifting a lot of poles. It was hard work so I was really happy when we went swimming on Thursday morning. The whole time we worked, the kids here at IGSL were so excited that they just stood and stared while we worked. By the time the cement dried, we did a dedication.

I also want to give a special thank you to LCS  for all the letters they gave to the kids here and for all of the money they donated to the playground. I also want to thank the playground team for coming to build the playground.

IMG_7321THANK YOU!!!     A lot of new kids are here now and are playing on the playground.  My family had a lot of fun hosting and working on the project.  See some pictures we took while building the playground. Enjoy :)

P.S. Please pray for Nepal were the earthquake was.

School Family Retreat

In February my family and I went on the school’s family retreat.  That’s when all of IGSL goes to Rizal Recreation Center.  The husband and wife that run it are famous for having the biggest top in the world!  That means I’ve seen the biggest top in the world!  Tops are those spinning things.

Rizal is a great place.  There is also a water slide, rock wall, tire swings, and indoor bowling.  I had a really good time there.  The food was really good too.  I had a lot of fun.  My mom even let me play outside until after 8pm with my friends!

Guess what?  My mom even did the water slide! :)  It was so fun because we don’t get to swim that much here.

Bye Bye Old Playground

IMG_6914IMG_6923A couple of day sago some men came took the old playground away.  Now all that is left is the monkey bars.  I told my mom the slide was crying to leave IGSL.  The slide wasn’t really crying. It was just dripping water from the rain.  It was kind of sad to see the playground go, but I’m glad we’re getting a new one soon here!

I think it is good the playground was taken away because it was dangerous. Last year three kids went to the hospital because of it and last week one of my friends got hit in the head with one of the swings.  A lot of the kids will be here for 2-4 years and they need a safe place to play.

Some kids are sad there is no playground right now, but those that know a new playground is coming are REALLY, REALLY excited.  I can’t wait to see my friends in April

See some of the pictures of the playground being taken away.  Kaelyn was really sad because she wanted to go down the slide.  She was super sad for a couple of days.

My 10th Birthday

I was born on March 12, 2005.  My 10th birthday was two weeks ago.  My party was really fun.  Ate Lose from Tonga and Ate Aneng and my mom hand sewed streamers for my birthday. It was amazing. Our friends Alyssa and Trisha Mamburam helped me make a banner that said “Happy Birthday Morgan.”  My mom thought of the perfect stuff for a My Little Pony birthday party.  She got great MLP (My Little Pony) streamers, MLP Bingo, MLP pin the tail on the Pinkie Pie, and my little pony food labels. We gave special titles to all of our food. My friends Alita, Abigail, Krisha, Ella, Mary, Anna, Faith, Faye, and Praisy came.

It was really fun. I still can’t believe I’m double digits. It’s totally crazy! During the party everyone shared something they liked about me.  KK said I was the Best Sister Ever :)  I had a really good time at the party. We had chocolate cake and chocolate cupcakes.  Below are some pictures we took at the party. Enjoy :)

My Librarian Job

This year I got the idea to start a library for my friends when I gave my friend Mary from Vietnam an American Girl book for her birthday.  The next day Mary told me she had already finished the book!  All of my friends (Alita and Abigail from Pakistan, Faith from Thailand, Ella from India, Mary, and Krisha from the Philippines all wanted me to let them borrow books.

So I got all the American Girl, Magic Tree House, and Nancy Drew books I have already read and made a library out of them.  The girls LOVE the library and are sad when I have to temporarily close it.  Thin of a public library. It’s almost the same, but this is different in four ways.

1.  It’s smaller.
2.  It’s for girls only.
3.  It’s run by a 10 year old.
4.  It’s Free!

IMG_6776 I guess that means I’m a librarian.  I like the library.  It makes me feel good because it makes the girls happy.  My friend Faith wrote me a very nice thank you note for letting her borrow books.  See a picture of her note and other pictures of my friends checking out books above.  Enjoy :)

Getting a New Bible

A couple weeks ago at our church I got my first real Bible.  I was really nervous at first because I didn’t know what I would be doing.  My class attended the main worship service and after the worship time was over we went up in front on the stage.  All of us in the fourth grade got Bibles.

The pastor gave us each a Bible and prayed for us. I was really nervous, but I didn’t need to be nervous.  After we got our Bibles we went back to our class and we all got pizza!  The teacher had us glue a certificate into our Bibles with our name .

I’m really happy that I got a Bible.  To me getting a real Bible seems really grown up.  I can’t wait until next Sunday!  Here are some pictures of my Bible and me getting it at church.
